The Big Lottery Fund is offering funding of £5 million for research focusing on strategies for independent living and a greater voice for disabled people. Disabled people will be at the Centre of the research process,
designing the research, taking part in fieldwork, communicating findings and promoting follow-up action.
The research will explore the degree to which disabled people are able to live independently and make their voices heard in the context of poverty and social exclusion, and their ideas on where and how change might be brought about. These ideas will be tested out in pilot projects. The findings from the research and the pilot projects will be used to inform policy and bring about practical improvements to disabled people’s lives across the UK. Through this programme the Big Lottery Fund will make one award of £5 million to the successful UK lead partner.
The deadline for applications is 7 March 2014. For more details, please visit the Big Lottery Fund website
