Congratulations to DAA members Money Advice Service (MAS) on winning a Disability Smart award. The Disability Smart awards, from the Business Disability Forum (BDF), celebrate organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to employing, working and doing business with disabled people. They seek to highlight and encourage improved performance in the delivery of services to disabled customers, employees and stakeholders.
To be shortlisted for this award, organisations needed to exhibit leading practices within the ten criteria of the world leading Disability Standards. There were 16 possible awards available, each highlighting a different area of good practice. From over one hundred applications to the awards MAS was selected as the winner of the award celebrating excellence in the delivery of products and services to disabled customers.
MAS won this for their well considered and constructed web pages ‘Illness and Disability’, which provide disabled people with guidance, news and tools related to finance. The Judges were also very impressed with the work that MAS were taking to improve the accessibility and relevance to their service for disabled people, especially the debt and mental health tool they developed in collaboration with the NHS.
MAS produced the ‘Illness and Disability’ pages as a result of a pressing need for a more joined-up financial advice and support for people with health conditions and disabled people. MAS worked with a range of experts, including a group of DAA members, to develop this section of their website. These pages were launched at the beginning of 2014 and received much positive support.
Chief Executive, Caroline Rookes, said “I am delighted that we have won this award, which is recognition of the way we work to make a difference for consumers.”
Despite winning the awards MAS has shown real conviction in ensuring that the pages are of the highest standard by asking the DAA group to continue to work with them as the pages are reviewed and amended over time.Other DAA members to also have won Disability Smart awards are:
- Barcleys – won 4 awards for branding, recruitment, suppliers and partners, and website communications.
- Lloyds Banking Group – won 4 awards for adjustments, staff retention, product development and contact centre.
These truly are outstanding achievements for exceptional organisations taking action to improve the day-to-day lives of disabled in our society. If you are a member and have recently won an award that you’d like to celebrate, please write in to FULFILLING.POTENTIAL@DWP.GSI.GOV.UKIf you would like to enter yourself or another organisation for the Disability Smart awards, please follow the link: https://www.disabilitystandard.com/awards/how-to-enter/ .
