The ‘X’-Card project is part of our work on Inclusive Communities. Its aims, project updates and group members can be found below.
On this page you will also find a link to the results of the ‘X’-card survey results, a survey conducted early in 2015 to find out what people would like from such cards and how they thought they might work.
The ‘X’-Card project looked at developing a card that could support disabled people to live more independent lives.
The project considered developing a card to be used to support disabled people to live independent lives, by providing identification of disability and information related to any assistance the cardholder may require.
The project group identified it needed to build an evidence base to determine:
- The demand for this sort of card,
- The requirements the card would be expected to meet, &
- The structures in place to deliver the card.
November 2015 – We are pleased to upload a copy of the October event summary note both in Word format and PDF format. Work is progressing following the event to set up two new virtual networks. More information can be found on the network pages below, as they develop:
October 2015 – In October the project hosted an event in London at which speakers shared their experiences of working on such cards. A speaker also talked about the EU ‘mobility’ card. Notes from this meeting will be uploaded shortly. The group will shortly launch a network page for those with an interest in the project.
August/September 2015 – Arrangements are being made to hold an event in October to share the survey results amongst DAA members, discuss the findings, and agree how to take this forward to continue building and strengthening partnerships.
May/June 2015 – Results of the survey are being considered and a short report is being developed.
Jan/March 2015 – DAA members were asked to help to develop the evidence base by taking part in an online ‘X’-Card survey between early January and Mid-March 2015.There was a good rate of response to the survey from members, and non DAA members who are interested in this type of card.
