The ‘X’-Card project is part of our work on Inclusive Communities. Its aims, project updates and group members can be found below.
On this page you will also find a link to the results of the ‘X’-card survey results, a survey conducted early in 2015 to find out what people would like from such cards and how they thought they might work.
Project aims
The ‘X’-Card project looked at developing a card that could support disabled people to live more independent lives.
Project Summary
The project considered developing a card to be used to support disabled people to live independent lives, by providing identification of disability and information related to any assistance the cardholder may require.
The project group identified it needed to build an evidence base to determine:
- The demand for this sort of card,
- The requirements the card would be expected to meet, &
- The structures in place to deliver the card.

May/June 2015 – Results of the survey are being considered and a short report is being developed.
Jan/March 2015 – DAA members were asked to help to develop the evidence base by taking part in an online ‘X’-Card survey between early January and Mid-March 2015.There was a good rate of response to the survey from members, and non DAA members who are interested in this type of card.
